Dealing with the dealers in north jersey you feel like your just another sale. You ask questions and they drive you insane to get the bottom line. I have not met nick in person and came from a costco auto program referral. I asked him to give me exact numbers on everything and I built a specific car as well. He located similair cars and answered every question I had. He did it with class and I felt like a human being not just another sale to him. He was polite and left such a great impression about him. He is an intelligent guy and respects your time. I know who I am coming to to avoid the rif raff and bolagna from being in a congested area. Proud owners of a 2018 GLC 300 4 Matic. I Contacted Ray Catena Mercedes-Benz of freehold in February and had the pleasure of connecting with Gina Palano, we started a phone and email relationship that lasted over two months. This relationship resulted in the most amazing car buying experience that I have ever had. It was a long car buying journey that she traveled with me patiently. Gina was informative, and willing to email the vehicle of choice, with the features I asked for. She sent me six GLA 2017 and 2018 new and used with manufacturer specs. I looked at them and got distracted because I knew I had quite a few weeks before the end of my current lease. After a few weeks, I called Gina again to let her know I was still interested and was planning to come in for test drive and to look at colors. Another couple of weeks pass before I contacted Gina again. She continued to patiently work with me and encouraged me to come in. Two weeks before my lease ended, I visited the dealer just to look at colors but Gina wasn’t there. I was greeted immediately and someone by the name of Anthony was assigned to assist me. He was helpful and tried to close the deal for Gina but after inspecting the GLA I realized it was smaller than my current vehicle. I decided to look at a larger vehicle, so I called Gina to let her know I wasn’t happy with the GLA. She stepped right up to the challenge and worked hard to find me the right vehicle with the features I needed. She followed up in a timely manner and made herself available if I had additional questions. She worked out all the details and got me into a GLC. I queried 4 MB dealers locally.Being an ADD, OCD male senior citizen educated by the Holy Sisters of St. Dominic who were not required to take any child growth & development courses in the 50's rockin' 3 lbs of rosary beads on their left hip counter- balanced by a six pack of wooden brass edged rulers on their right hip allowing them to maintain their ramrod straight posture. Given that rigorous training obviously I initiated my predawn research regime taking notes on graph paper with a ticonderoga no 2 pencil 12 weeks before having to surrender the leased vehicle. Bill Hoblitzell, of Ray Catena Mercedes of Freehold distinguished himself as the first salesman to reach out to us regarding our search. We made an appointment to visit two days later. While parking we observed two white sedans waiting for us to examine. Upon entering Bill was on his feet but did not charge at us like we were his long lost buddies. Admirable. Pleasantries exchanged, we followed him over to a man standing behind a long counter like an air traffic controller might who appeared to actually be enjoying his work. Meet Steve Chanis ladies & gentlemen, Sales Manager Extraordinaire.Steve showed us a 4 x 8 white board that displayed their inventory. The 2015 car we came to see had a deposit placed on it the prior evening. However, surprisingly they had a 2014 CLS550 biturbo 4matic with 14040 miles on it in brilliant white metallic that had been originally sold for 90 K.My dream car. Just like Ray Donovan. So let the games begin. We climbed into our fifth MB sedan since 1980, our last one a 2000. As you close the doors the windows go up another inch to seal you in. Now this is some piece of hardware and software here. Test ride without a predetermined 3 mile loop, commendable.Attempting to accelerate to the end of the road, we sat down and chatted with Bill. Totally unlike me he was a fabulous listener and a great conversationalist and lastly an experienced, very smart salesman who has the patience required to deal with old fools like me.So we discuss pricing, cpo options, out the door totals without having to go into the DREADED back office to be cajoled into acquiring detritus no one needs.We exit, go home, to return following morning. An unprecedented level of efficiency laid before us. Give payment, sign, go to the delivery bay which was an elegant 4 bay glass enclosed room where Bill and Steve introduced us to Joe DiMaria, product concierge who guided my beloved thru setting up everything requiring memory.These professionals invite follow up questions and feedback. Fortunately, another stellar young man, Robert Lisi, Catena's version of the Apple Genius is the source of how to program anything into the COMMAND system. We spent significant time chatting while we were in Boston recently trying to undo a few settings I had enabled due to lack of familiarity.An unusual, unprecedented extraordinarily FUN first visit to Ray Catena's Freehold Mercedes. Every dealership, everywhere should be managed and staffed this well including two unsung hero receptionists: Julie & Stephanie.
