2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

Introducing the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

Mercedes-Benz is ready to make its mark on the all-electric vehicle market in America, with the 2022 EQS sedan, which arrives in the US this year as a flagship of the brand’s electric future.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is efficient, powerful, and revolutionary—featuring unprecedented aerodynamics, a 56” MBUX Hyperscreen that covers nearly the entire dashboard on select versions of the EQS, and so much more.

EV Innovation and Performance

Revolutionized Electric Driving — The EQS sedan is the most aerodynamic model to ever hit the automotive market (with a drag coefficient of 0.20Cd). Built with a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery, the EQS can travel over 300 miles on a single charge, over 400 in optimal conditions. Many charging stations can provide a rapid charge in 15 minutes. Plus, Mercedes-Benz Electric Intelligence automatically gives you information to account for topography, weather conditions, and tools to plan your drive (like charging station locations).

Luxury and High-Tech Features

The Inside Experience — The EQS sedan is the electric counterpart to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, giving you all the same comfort and amenities, plus several unique digital and luxury features. Most notable is the MBUX touchscreen dashboard, a glass panel that stretches from door to door across the dashboard. In addition, the EQS gives you seamless capabilities in calling, charging, entertainment, connectivity, and navigation. The EQS luxury experience also includes massage seating and automatic doors.

A DC rapid charging station like ChargePoint will boost your vehicle’s battery from 10 – 100% in a mere 31 minutes. Many ChargePoint stations are free to use, and over 125,700 public charging stations are now available.

If you need to, you can charge your EQS from any wall outlet (this known as level 1 charging). To charge more efficiently, you can install a level 2 charger where you usually park your vehicle. Level 2 outlets use 240V and charge much faster (100% in about 11 hours, 15 minutes).

All-electric vehicles have greater torque and acceleration than gas-powered vehicles. Because of the electric system, the reaction from the pedal to the drivetrain happens instantaneously.

Yes. Once you experience the EQS, nothing else will compare. An electric relative of the S-Class family, the 2022 EQS sedan is the brand’s first fully electric model in the US market. The EQS is designed with higher energy density, allowing for a greater drive range, and it’s fitted with the newest, most advanced generation of lithium-ion batteries.

Features of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan

Arousing the interest of automotive trend-watchers worldwide, the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience infotainment system (MBUX) will be exclusively featured in the EQS 580. The 56” instrument panel spans the length of the dashboard and utilizes three screens with a “zero-layer” user interface.

Leading the industry with its AI technology, the MBUX can make customized suggestions for infotainment, connectivity, navigation, and even massage, without the need for scrolling or voice commands.

The 2022 EQS will be available in two trim levels.

The base model, the EQS 450+, is rear-wheel drive (RWD) and estimated to go from 0-60mph in 5.5 seconds. The EQS 450+ boasts 406 lb-ft of torque and 329 horsepower, with an electric motor over its rear axle.

The higher trim level, EQS 580 4MATIC®, is all-wheel drive (AWD), with a total output of 406 lb-ft of torque and 516 horsepower, and the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

Both trim levels of the 2022 EQS have a substantial 107.8-kWh battery capacity, reliably providing more than 300 miles of range and over 400 miles in the best weather conditions.

Using AC Charging (240V), with a level 2 wall box, you can charge your Mercedes-Benz EQS in around 11.25 hours and typically add 15-30 miles of range for each hour spent charging. For lightning-fast charging, you can boost its battery from 10 – 100% in a half-hour, using a DC rapid charging station (200kW).

Mercedes-Benz’s new Active Ambient Lighting gives the driver 64 colors and tones to choose from. Additional features include multi-contour front seats with 4-Zone Climate Control, massage functionality, and a panoramic sunroof.

Active Parking Assist uses a 360-degree View Camera, so tight maneuvers have never been simpler. Whether you’re reversing down a driveway or parallel parking on a city street, your Mercedes-Benz EQS is with you to provide additional confidence in challenging situations. Additional packages include Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping, giving add semi-autonomous drive functionality for longer commutes.

The interior of the EQS, closely related to that of the S-Class, has won “Best Interior” in the British TopGear.com Electric Awards 2021. The exterior takes an entirely new approach, deviating from traditional long-hood layouts of traditional luxury vehicles.

The EQS sedan uses cab-forward proportions with a “one-bow” design. Its wheels are pushed out for an assertive stance. It features brand new two-tone paint choices for the sedan’s exterior, customizable upholstery colors, and veneers for the center console and dashboard. The EQS can seat up to five passengers.
